It is a complete worldview, a lifestyle, a sacred order of existence that connects humanity to the cosmos, to nature, to Orí, to ancestors, and to the unseen forces (Ìmòlẹ̀ and Òrìṣà) that govern life.However, it is important to acknowledge that Ìṣèṣe does carry religious essence within it: rituals, divination, sacred offerings, temples, spiritual codes of conduct, taboos, moral laws, and the invocation of divine beings.This sacred system, in its original African form, was not limited to "worship" alone — it included philosophy, ethics, medicine, science, psychology, and governance. It is a matrix of spiritual consciousness deeply rooted in ancestral order and divine intelligence.But over time, as societies evolved and individuals began to relate with Ìṣèṣe through more devotional and theistic lenses, many began to structure their engagement with Ìṣèṣe as a formal religion— complete with titles, shrines, dress codes, and organized rituals. This expression is valid.Let People Live Their ConsciousnessIt is neither wise nor spiritually enlightened to deny people the right to express their understanding of Ìṣèṣe in a way that is meaningful to them. For some, Ìṣèṣe is tradition. For others, it is religion. For others still, it is a universal science of the soul.We must not become gatekeepers of definitions that limit the vastness of ancestral Enlightenment.Instead, let us allow people to live out their consciousness, so long as they are aligned with truth, respect, and the preservation of the sacred.What matters most is not what we call Ìṣèṣe — but how we live it, embody it, and protect its Spiritual Enlightenment for future generations.Àṣẹ.

It is the first and final authority over our path in life, and when we are in alignment with it, no force—seen or unseen—can overpower us.But how often do we truly speak to our Orí? How often do we venerate it, protect it, feed it, and listen to it? In a world clouded with envy, malice, and spiritual attacks, many destinies are delayed, diverted, or even destroyed—not because of external power, but because the individual has not stood in active spiritual relationship with their Orí.I share below a sacred invocation—a Prayer to My Orí—that emerged from deep meditation, experience, and divine instruction. I encourage you to recite this prayer regularly, especially during times when you feel unseen battles surrounding your life, relationships, or progress. Speak it with clarity, reverence, and truth. Prayer to My OríOrí mi, my Divine Inner Head, The sacred seat of my destiny, the first witness to my arrival in this world— I bow to you in humility and rise with you in power.Please, do not be unfortunate. Each festival holds unique spiritual significance and contributes to the rich essence of our identity.“While Ojude Oba has become the most vibrant and widely celebrated festival in Ijebuland, other cultural festivals such as Agemo etc remain vital to our heritage and identity. The prominence of one should not diminish the value of the others — there's room for all to thrive without conflict.” Historically, Ìjèbú land hosted vibrant festivals — the Obanta Festival, the Ode Nla Festival, and others — celebrations of culture and lineage that once brought people together. Over time, interest in these traditions waned. Yet something remarkable resurfaced to tie the community once again:The annual Muslim festival in Ìjèbúland, inspired by Islam, capturing hearts and drawing Ijebu sons and daughters home. This festival has evolved over decades to become one of the most powerful unifying events in Nigeria — even Africa.This is the kind of history we must celebrate — the kind that weaves faith, identity, and return into something sacred and memorable. Stop Celebrating What Divides UsNot all history builds. Some holds us captive to old wounds, tribal divides, and political fear.Let us stop exalting the stories that separate us. Instead, let us choose the ones that gather us — that remind us we are part of something larger.
